HI, I'M GABRIEL ODREMAN

I'm a civil engineer focused in transportation planning/design/management. My interest is centered on improving the integration of project design, construction, and operations. I am currently seeking a master's degree in civil engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. I also hold the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications.

As a graduate research assistant, I have had the opportunity to develop my research skills by being involved in research projects with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

I am originally from Venezuela, from where I bring about 5 years of experience in construction management. I earned my bachelor's degree there and graduated as the top of my class (1st of 30 graduating civil engineering students).

I am very passionate about integrating research with practical experience. I believe that this combination enables us to enhance daily transportation practices and bring the best of our profession to the general public.

MY LATEST RESEARCH

I recently have been involved in a research project that sough to improve the planning process for transportation projects funded through Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO).

In this applied research, we developed a robust project-scoping framework specifically tailored for MPOs. Implementing this multi-stage scoping process in a consistent fashion can help to ensure a more effective development trajectory as well as accurate comparisons among different potential projects.

As a result, MPOs can increase confidence in their budgeting and scheduling, ultimately resulting in greater transportation benefits to the public.

Project Scoping process for MPOs

QUICK FACT:

I presented a poster of this research in the 2018 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting.

MY STUDENT SIDE

I am currently pursuing my master degree in civil engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. My focus is in transportation project management (planning, executing, monitoring). In my bachelor's thesis, I designed an overpass for a rural zone. And, nowadays, I have taken courses that made me solved problems of daily transportation practices through class projects. Here some of these interesting projects.

As much as I love to find new ways to improve transportation practices through applied research, I also love teaching and mentoring. I find very fulfilling to transmit knowledge to the next generations. Here some of the teaching experience I have.

MY TEACHING SIDE

MY PROFESSIONAL SIDE

Before starting my master's degree, I worked on the construction of stadiums, buildings, and houses in 5 years of professional activity.

My background includes building 5 baseball stadiums, 1 office building, 1 elementary school, 2 two-story houses.

I held positions ranging from being project engineer, as a team-player, to being project manager leading three projects simultaneously.

MY HUMAN SIDE

Yes! I not only study or work. I do have a side life. I love volunteering, playing soccer, and expending my free time with my incredible wife.

What People say about me

“I had the pleasure of teaching Mr. Odreman this spring semester. I was very impressed with his leadership abilities. He quickly grasped the principles and concepts of pavement management and showed an expanded understanding when applying these concepts in a group setting. Gabriel is very bright, mature, and goal oriented. I believe Gabriel is ready to tackle any engineering challenge placed before him."

Ernesto De La Garza P.E

Construction Management Engineer

City of Corpus Christi, Texas

"This summer Gabriel Odreman volunteered to teach my college students how to construct a CMU block building. He has demonstrated the importance of attention to detail to my students with patience and understanding. As often the case with the learning process, the foundation was not perfect. Gabriel taught the students how to adapt to imperfections in the foundation and materials. What has impressed me most, is Gabriel's ability to inspire others to accomplish the maximum amount of work in the South Texas heat, while earning their respect and increasing enthusiasm for the project. I highly recommend serious consideration of Gabriel Odreman for any construction management position."

James Glusing

Associate Professor

Texas A&M University-Kingsville

“Mr. Gabriel Odreman was an excellent employee and instructor. The students were captivated with his teaching style and thus demonstrated prompt progress in his math class. Gabriel paperwork and reports were continually impeccable. I would recommend him in any capacity."
